Towing in Bergen County, NJ: the questions, answered the way our dispatcher answers them on the phone
These are the questions Bergen County callers ask most, from the Meadowlands to Mahwah. Find yours, or skip the reading and dial.
What Bergen County drivers want to know before calling a tow truck
We cover the whole county, the south is closest and the north is far, the price comes before the truck, and no membership is required.
Are you actually in Bergen County?
No, and we would rather you hear it from us. Our yard is in Linden, in Union County. Our trucks work Bergen County every day, and many of them spend the day in Hudson County or around the Meadowlands, which is often closer to you than the yard.
How long will a truck take to reach me in Bergen County?
Lyndhurst, Rutherford and East Rutherford are about 30 to 35 minutes from Linden. Hackensack, Paramus and Teaneck are roughly 40 to 45, and Mahwah, Ramsey and the Pascack Valley an hour or more. The dispatcher quotes from the nearest truck on the board, so it is often less.
What does a tow cost anywhere in Bergen County?
$149 for dispatch and hook-up by phone, or $129 when you book online. Mileage from pickup to drop-off is quoted before a truck is sent, and the prices page lays out the rest.
Do I pay for the drive from Linden up to Mahwah?
No. Mileage is counted from your car to where it is going, not from our yard to your car. The long drive north is our cost, and we tell you about it as time, not as money.
Should I call you for an emergency in the far north of the county?
If you are safe and can wait an hour or so, yes. If you are in a live lane on Route 17 or I-287 near Mahwah, call 911 first and let the police make the scene safe. We will never promise a fast arrival up there that we cannot keep.
What kind of Bergen County jobs are you best at?
Anything in the southern towns and the middle of the county, plus scheduled work everywhere. Dealer drops, lease returns, shop transfers and fleet runs in Ridgewood, Oakland or Park Ridge are a strong fit, because the time is set in advance.
Is a tow in Saddle River or Alpine priced higher than one in Garfield?
No. The booking fee and the per-mile rate are the same in every Bergen County town. Only the distance from pickup to drop-off changes the total.
My car died in a MetLife Stadium lot after a game. Can you get to it?
Yes, once the lot opens to service vehicles. Traffic after an event is heavy, so it can take a while for anyone to get in; tell the dispatcher the lot and the nearest sign or section marker, and we will time the truck for when the roads clear.
Can you tow from the George Washington Bridge?
Not from the bridge itself. The bridge and its approach plaza are Port Authority ground, and their crews move a stalled car off. Once it is on a Fort Lee street or in a lot, we pick it up and take it where you choose.
What happens if I break down on the Turnpike near Exit 16W or on the Parkway in Paramus?
On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
Can a flatbed get into the Garden State Plaza or Paramus Park lots?
Yes, in the open surface lots. Garage decks can be too low for a flatbed, so a wheel-lift may bring the car down to the surface first. Tell the dispatcher which entrance and which level.
Is it true the Paramus stores are closed on Sundays?
Yes, Bergen County's blue laws close most retail on Sundays, and Paramus is the strictest about it. That means empty lots and easy loading if your car was left there Saturday night, but you may need mall security to let the truck in.
Do you tow from Hackensack University Medical Center or Holy Name?
Yes, from their garages and surface lots once security clears the truck. A car blocking an entrance goes to the top of the list.
Can you move a car stuck in a flooded street in Moonachie or Little Ferry?
Yes, on a flatbed. Do not try to start it. Tell the dispatcher roughly how high the water reached on the doors so the shop can plan for it.
Do you tow electric cars in Bergen County?
Yes, every EV rides a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. That matters here, because Bergen has a lot of Teslas, Rivians and electric Audis in its driveways and mall garages.
Can you handle a box truck at a Carlstadt or Moonachie warehouse?
Yes. Medium and heavy-duty trucks come from the same dispatcher, quoted on the same call. Tell us the gross weight and whether the load is still on board.
Do you serve Teterboro Airport?
We serve the roads and business lots around it along Route 46 and Route 17. Inside the airfield, access depends on the operator, so tell the dispatcher who controls the gate.
Can I book a tow for a specific day and time?
Yes. Call or use the online form with pickup, drop-off and the time you want. Booking online also takes $20 off the fee.
Do you set up fleet accounts for Bergen County businesses?
Yes. Delivery fleets in the Meadowlands, contractors in the middle of the county and dealers along Route 17 can be billed monthly on net terms. The same dispatcher handles every call.
Will you tow my car into New York?
Yes, as a long distance tow, priced the same way with tolls and the bridge built into the quote. Rockland County and Manhattan are both common drops from the Bergen side.
How do I pay?
Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash when the car is set down. No membership is needed, and the itemized receipt works for insurance claims.
What should I say first when I call from Bergen County?
The town. Bergen has seventy of them and plenty of repeated names, so "Washington Avenue" or "Main Street" alone is not enough. Then the cross street or lot, the car, what happened and where it should go.
