Towing cost in Bergen County, NJ: a $149 flat booking fee, $129 online, and the long drive north is not on your bill

A single fee printed right here, a mileage figure you hear before anything moves, and no extra charge for living near the New York line. Below: what the fee pays for, what might be added, what never is, and the quickest way to your exact total.

How a tow is priced

A Bergen County tow is the $149 booking fee plus the miles from pickup to drop-off

Your Bergen County total is the $149 booking fee ($129 online) plus a per-mile figure for the ride from where the car sits to where it is headed; winching or dollies are added only if the car cannot roll or steer, and you hear that number before any work starts.

01

Booking fee: $149 on the phone, $129 online

Phone it in and the fee is $149; book online and it is $129. It pays for dispatching the truck and hooking up the car, and it is identical in Carlstadt and in Upper Saddle River.

The $20 difference is the dispatcher time you saved by typing the details yourself. Box trucks, buses and tractors go on a medium or heavy-duty truck with their own quote.

02

Mileage, counted from your car

The per-mile charge runs from pickup to drop-off. The drive from Linden up to your car is not billed as mileage, so a call in Mahwah is not charged extra for being far from our yard.

A short hop inside one town adds little; a run from Paramus to a dealer in Ramsey adds more. Anything out of state becomes a long distance tow, tolls included.

03

Winching, dollies and recovery

Recovery work is billed only if the car will not roll or steer: collision damage, a car nosed into a ditch on a northern valley road, a Moonachie flood car, a locked steering column. The dispatcher usually spots it on the call and folds it into the quote.

If the driver finds something nobody could have known, he tells you the cost before he starts. You decide.

04

What never appears on the receipt

No surcharge for the hour, the weekend, a holiday or fuel. No charge for riding along in the cab.

No storage on a car delivered to your shop, dealer or home, and no fee for calling to ask the price.

Tell dispatch where the car is, where it goes and what it is, and you get the exact figure.

Roadside prices

Jump starts, flat tires, lockouts and fuel in Bergen County: one flat price each

In Bergen County a jump start, a spare mounted, a locked door opened or a few gallons delivered each cost one set price, no miles added, and the usual ending is you driving off on your own.

Jump start

Flat batteries in Bergen Line station lots, hospital decks and frosty Pascack Valley driveways. Our packs handle gas, diesel and hybrid; a battery past saving gets a tow quote on the spot.

Flat tire change

The driver bolts on your spare at the curb or in a Route 17 jughandle. If there is no usable spare, the car rides to a tire shop of your choosing at the regular tow rate.

Car lockout

Keys locked in at American Dream, a Fort Lee high-rise garage or a Ridgewood meter. Non-marring tools, no broken glass.

Fuel delivery

Empty on I-80, Route 4 or the Route 208 stretch through Fair Lawn. Enough to reach the next open station.

Think it may not need a tow? Say so first. Roadside costs less, and we start there.

One county, one price

Why a Bergen County tow should not cost more because of the zip code

Some operators charge more in wealthier towns or add a travel fee for distance from their yard; our Bergen County fee is the same everywhere, and only the miles the car actually rides change the total.

Bergen County holds some of the most expensive zip codes in the country, and towing prices can drift upward with them. A caller in Alpine or Saddle River sometimes hears a bigger number than the same job in Lodi, for no reason except the address.

Our fee ignores the zip code, and nobody pays a travel charge because the yard happens to sit in Linden. The per-mile rate is fixed countywide, and the total is spoken before a truck is assigned.

Storage is the other quiet cost. A car cleared from Route 17 by whichever truck shows up first can land in a lot that bills daily, so pick your own truck and your own destination.

Ask what it costs before anything else. Asking is free, and the answer is the same in every Bergen town.

FAQ

Pricing: common questions

Short answers to what people ask about this page; the dispatcher can answer the rest.

Does a tow cost more in some Bergen County towns than others?

It does not. Alpine and Lodi share one booking fee and one per-mile rate, so the only thing that makes one tow dearer than another is how far the car rides.

Will I pay extra because you are coming from Linden?

No. Mileage is counted from pickup to drop-off. The drive to reach you shows up as time in the window, not as a charge.

Why is booking online $20 cheaper?

Typing the job into the form saves the dispatcher several minutes, and that saving is passed on to you. If you are safe in a driveway with time to spare, use the form; if you are sitting in a travel lane, phone.

Can the price change after the driver arrives?

The booking fee stays put. Should the driver find a problem nobody could see on the phone, a seized wheel for instance, he names the added cost and waits for your yes.

Will I pay storage?

No. The car goes straight from your curb to the place you named, so there is nothing to store. Holding a vehicle overnight happens only if you ask, and the nightly figure is spoken first.

How do I pay?

Pay with a card, a phone wallet or cash once the car is unloaded. Companies can take a monthly invoice on net terms.

Anything else? Ask on the call.
